FaeKind are partially equine in that there is often a stallion with rights to the mares of his herd, and partially like people who believe in love and being committed partners. Some Faes respect the stallion traditions more than others, and precisely how much one Fae prefers the herd mentality over finding a soulmate varies widely.

Breedings can occur once per season, but Faes prefer to breed during Wintersday in late December, or during Midsummer in late June. Mares can foal during each season, since gestation is only three months long, but doing so isn't healthy or recommended. Stallions have no known studding limits, except how many females are up for it.

Genetics
Mutations and additions all have a 50% chance of being genetically transmitted from each parent. Each one is determined separately.

For example, the sleek body type is carried by males and displayed in females. A carrier male adds his 50% chance to a sleek female's 50% chance to ensure a 100% chance of a Sleek foal. However, with a normal mare, this same stallion would only have a 50% chance of fathering a Sleek foal.

If a unicorn breeds with a pegasus, each addition is determined separately. The horn has 50% chance, and the wings have a 50% - giving a smaller chance at a winged unicorn foal.

Unicorn + dualhorn = Tricorn
Dualhorn + pegasus = Winged dualhorn
Tricorn + pegasus = Winged tricorn
Winged dualhorn + unicorn = Winged tricorn

And other combinations.

This system more often than not works for markings. If both parents have faded hair, the foal is practically guaranteed to have faded hair.

Similarly, if a Faequine is of a "type" such as Kirin or Dainty, it is passed like a mutation. However, all the mutations of that type pass together in an all or nothing. No Kirin Faequine will ever have wings or lack scales. However, a pegasus may have some of the mutations of a Kirin and look very Kirin, but still not be a Kirin.

All FaeKind, but especially Faettes, are subject to random chance and fluke genetics that sometimes do crazy things.

Twin Genes
For every one hundred or so Faequine or Faette, one or two are chosen to carry a random and secret twin gene. Faes who are twins are guaranteed to carry this gene.

For those Faequine who carry the gene, there is a 50% chance of having twins. For those who do not carry the gene, the chance is only 5%. For those Faettes who carry the gene, there is a 80% chance of having twins. For those Faettes who do not carry the gene, the chance is 20%.

Once a successful twin roll has been acheieved, another roll is done to determine if the foals are identical or fraternal, at a 70% and 30% chance respectively. Thus, fraternal twins are very rare.

Powers
FaeKind powers are more complicated when it comes to breedings, and not entirely understood.

Element - Generally, if the couple are the same element, the foal will be slightly more powerful than its parents. If the parents differ in element, the foal inherits one element and is generally less powerful than either one.

Purity - More often than not, the foal has one less purity than its parents, due to generational influence.

Mental Control - The levels of the parents are added, and divided by two in most cases.

Shifting - The levels of the parents are added, and divided by two in most cases.
