Once a small warrior clan from the northern most part of the youkai territories, the Shadow have risen to become the greatest threat to Dragon rule. They believe very strongly that the Dragon have led the youkai too far off the path they were meant to take and that they should step down from rule to let a more pwoerful clan (themselves) take over to lead the youkai back onto the road of power - before they lose control of all Makai.
All Shadow boys are taken from their parents at birth and fed only blood. Those who survive go right into warrior training as soon as they can walk and hold a dagger. Women are little more than a commodity to be traded and used, as are girl children. Females are strictly forbidden from any sort of training beyond "womanly work".
While most Shadow warriors rely on physical strength and training, some are trained in fire ad in rarer cases, shadow magic. Units of warriors usually hire Azure healers, or simply let their wounded die since most Azure can't be swayed from their Dragon allegiance.
