The Kiro Temple is a crossroads, a meeting place of paths leading to other worlds.  Students come to this temple, and not all of them are human.  They come here sometimes to get away from their lives, sometimes they're chosen, sometimes to find something, and some come here just for the thrill of traveling to another world and doing something important.

The crossroads are monitored by a very powerful woman, and she guards the temple well.  She takes in students as she sees fit and sends them through the crossroads on missions of great importance, but of course after rigorous testing and training.
